automated guided vehicle warehouse

Warehouse routes change what an automated guided vehicle must prove. Aisle width, rack face, pallet or tote mix, and door cycles alter work envelope and cycle time. This page is an application briefing for buyers, not a layout engineering service. Upstream WMS and downstream conveyor or operator stations are interfaces that must be named before manufacturers quote the same duty.

Changeover context

Operating context
Indoor warehouse transfer between storage, packing and outbound staging. Pedestrian crossings and tugger traffic share some aisles. Freezer, outdoor yard and hazardous rooms are out of scope unless a supplier writes a boundary for those rooms.
Changeover context: Design input

List every load carrier the warehouse will present in one shift. Payload must include the top attachment and the carrier. Provide representative samples or drawings of the tallest and widest load. Note door heights, slope percentages and charging pad locations. State whether changeover is a physical attachment swap, a software mission change, or both.

Supplier answer

Manufacturers should confirm positioning tolerance at each drop-off, handshake owner (WMS, PLC or station I/O), and remaining missions during charging when carriers change. If a tote deck and a pallet fork cannot share one vehicle, that is a configuration answer, not a failure of the RFQ. Throughput claims need the dwell and congestion numbers used in the simulation.

Open deviation

Open items include untested mixed-carrier fleets, unspecified conveyor height, and SAT limited to one SKU. Aisles narrower than the quoted envelope, or floors with unstated joints, stay unresolved until measured. We compare written answers; we do not assert a universal warehouse AGV.

Warehouse RFQ dimensions to keep comparable
Dimension Buyer input Why manufacturers diverge Not assumed by this site
Payload lbs including attachment and carrier Some quotes rate chassis only A published competitor payload
Travel speed mph under loaded and empty cases Nameplate speed ignores dwell Guaranteed warehouse cycle time
Battery Voltage and charging window Opportunity charge vs swap Site electrical capacity
Handshake WMS, PLC or station owner Software license excluded Existing WMS version compatibility
